Mountain Mission

Moving Mountains For Those in Need Since 1926

Mission Statement

Mountain Mission Incorporated is a 501C3 Non-Profit faith-based charitable organization that exists to serve families and individuals in the Kanawha Valley with unexpected emergency needs assistance in the financial and in-kind areas. By carrying out this mission we will support the hurting and communicate the importance of education, careers and financial management. This will make the most positive difference possible in the lives of those we serve in God's name.

Christmas Tradition

Thanks to your support, in 2008, we were able to supply food baskets to nearly 900 families - a total of nearly 2900 people!

These food baskets included canned vegetables, fruit, sugar, potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, bread, cereal, candy, a 14lb. turkey and, of course, a gospel tract.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of the volunteers, churches, employees, individuals, organizations and companies that contributed their time, finances, food donations, and most of all, their prayers to make this Christmas Basket Program a success.

A special thanks to Governor and Mrs. Manchin for their time and assistance!

Christmas is a special time of year and, together, we need to ensure that each child, woman and man has a Christmas meal.

In October 1926, several men met on a mountain top overlooking Charleston and prayed for God's guidance in helping the needy in the area with their physical and spiritual needs. With an initial collection of thirty cents, the ministry of the Mountain Mission was born.

Mission Accomplished Icon Mission Accomplished

Although these tough economic times have hit us and our programs just as hard as everyone else, we have been able to maintain the much needed services to thousands of hurting people this past year. It has not been easy at all but with God's blessing we have accomplished the mission and, yes, there is still much more to do!

On behalf of the elder man who has admitted twice to the hospital for dehydration without telling anyone that he had no water in his home because he thought that someone else needed help worse; for the young family that lost everything in their trailer fire except their lives and were yet thankful; and for the mother of a mentally challenged young man who had run out of medication for him, we say "THANK YOU." If it weren't for people helping us we could not have helped these and others.

Mountain Mission strives to serve hurting people in emergency situations and in doing so it blesses us to bless others.

Please be a blessing and in return receive a blessing by doing so.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (King James Version)

Our clients are carefully and discretely screened and we receive documentation to verify the need prior to our assistance. When necessary, we council and require the client to establish more responsibility in their particular case in order to help them in the future. We believe that this process assures that we are serving the true need at hand and in the future.
